Licensing Requirements

Before taking your real estate license exam in Pennsylvania, you're currently required to complete 75 hours of pre-license education covered in two courses: 1) Real Estate Fundamentals(30 hours)  and 2) Real Estate Practice (45 hours).

You will need a high school diploma or equivalent.

You will also be required to complete a criminal record check. Click here to read about criminal convictions that may constitute grounds to refuse a license.


The REALTORS® Educational Institute offers value-priced options:

1.  In our classrooms at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Benefit from the knowledge of our professional instructors, who have decades of hands-on experience as real estate agents and brokers at our location in Pittsburgh.  Classes run monthly!

2. Virtually with an instructor on Zoom.

3. Or Online. Pursue self-guided study at your convenience via our online classes. The course content is similar what you would learn in the classroom. Log in and out whenever you want and the program will hold your place.  Work at your own pace!

RECIPROCAL STATES - The Commission has a reciprocity agreement with Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, and New York only. In order to obtain (and renew) your reciprocal license, you must hold the equivalent of a current standard license from a state that has executed a reciprocal agreement with the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission.  When requested, a Certificate of Licensure dates within 90 days of submission must be provided to verify current licensure in the reciprocal state
