During the first biennial period that continuing education is required, a new licensee shall complete the Commission-developed 14-hour required courses for new licensees in satisfaction of the continuing education requirement. (49 Pa. Code §35.384(b)) This means salesperson licensees must complete the General Module and either the Residential or Commercial Modules before they can renew their license. New agents who received their real estate license after December 1, 2021 are waived from this requirement until the following license renewal. A standard license holder who seeks to renew a current license that was initially issued within 6 months of the biennial license period for which the renewal is sought will be deemed eligible for a full waiver of the continuing education requirement. (49 Pa. Code §35.383(a)(1)) This is not my first time renewing in PA. Licensees are required to take 14 hours of continuing education to renew or reactivate their license. The Commission implemented a new policy requiring that all licensees take at least 3.5 hours of continuing education by the May 31, 2022 deadline of the renewal cycle on the topic of Fair Housing. RAMP’s education staff and faculty developed this course and it is offered by five instructors. New agents or those in their first continuing education renewal cycle who are required to complete the mandatory new agent courses, are exempt from this requirement. See the Commission's special notice on Mandatory CE. I am a REALTOR member. When do I have to take Ethics? The National Association of REALTORS® requires members to complete at minimum 2.5 hours of ethics training, meeting specific learning objectives and criteria, within three-year cycles. The current period is January 1, 2022 - December 31, 2024. Our Real Estate Ethics course meets this requirement. RAMP members should take our Ethics course available livestream and in-person.
