This course will equip real estate licensees with a basic and applicable understanding of Historic Preservation; its history, practice, associated laws, benefits and responsibilities in the Pittsburgh region and market. First, agents will be given a comprehensive primer in Historic Preservation, including an overview of what Historic Preservation is. Licensees will also be introduced to the local organizations driving Historic Preservation in Pittsburgh and will be given a cursory overview of the national regulations that helped to form the modern preservation movement. Second, licensees will be introduced to National and Local Historic Designation; an overview of each law and what qualifies for designation at each level. Finally, agents will be learn about the requirements and responsibilities associated with historic designation and what it means for their buyers and sellers.
