Breakdown of the 28-Hour Requirement
MANDATORY COURSES:
- 7 hours: National USPAP Update Course (or its equivalent).
- 7 hours: Valuation Bias & Fair Housing Laws and Regulations. According to the Pennsylvania State Board of Certified Real Estate Appraisers, this is a new mandatory course length for the 2027 cycle. The “7-hour Valuation Bias and Fair Housing continuing education courses is only required by 6/30/2027.” (Note: Subsequent renewals starting in 2029 will drop this specific topic requirement down to 4 hours) .
- 2 hours: Focus on the Real Estate Appraisers Certification Act and the Board's regulations and policies. -->Please note this is included in our Appraisal Regulations and Guildelines Update 7-hour course.
ELECTIVE COURSES:
- 7-hour New URAR course
- 7-hour Property Assessment in Pennsylvania course.
Certificates expire June 30 of every odd-numbered year. The board mails renewal notices 2 to 3 months prior to the expiration date. Notices are mailed to the most recent address the certificate-holder has reported to the Board. The Postal Service does not forward licenses.
