This course was made possible by a National Association of REALTORS Sustainability Grant and is a joint program of RAMP, The Green Building Alliance (GBA), AIA Pittsburgh, and the Housing Innovation Alliance.

This course is a tour to a modular building factory where high-performance homes & light commercial buildings are fabricated for delivery & set within our market. This factory has partnered with a local builder to produce a net-zero concept home in partnership with ProBuilder media. The concept home is a result of the 2022 America at Home Study, where significant covid-era data collection led to the design development of a home that meets the market demands of today’s buyers, including energy-efficiency, health & wellness.
We will include a presentation of how modular construction is more environmentally friendly due to lower waste and better resource management, and how better quality-control in a factory setting leads to more resilient structures. Factory construction also improves worker safety and typically offers better employee benefits.

The concept home aims to demonstrate a higher level of livability, constructability, and sustainability than seen in other new construction homes with three big goals in mind: reducing carbon emissions by 70%, generating 90% less waste, and delivering a healthier living environment.

Engage with members of the concept home team and others to:

      • Understand the why, process, and insights from the America at Home Study
      • See how modern methods of construction unlock new value with volumetric modular
      • Learn what the DOE Zero Energy Ready home standard means for consumers + builders
      • And more…
